The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has infinite quests
Game director has already mentioned that Skyrim will have unlimited dragons, now he's said to Wired that there will be infinite quests. The infinite quests are sure to boost the projected amount of potential play time from "300 hours" to "the end of time", which is going to do terrible things to our productivity when Skyrim unlocks on Friday. You can pre-load Skyrim right now on Steam and Direct2Drive.

Infinity can only be achieved through repetition of a set pattern. I'm not very excited about the "infinite" quests. I'll take the ones that were actually crafted by people, thanks. This is just what I needed to make sure I put myself over the thousand hour mark with one character.

I don't know about INFINITE number of quests, but very close to it. Assuming they have 1000+ characters that can give quests; a set amount of 'scripted' quests, of dungeons and tasks for people to give you on said dungeons or areas - then it would have a near-infinite amount of content. The chances of a second character doing the exact same radiant-story quest as a previous one is extremely slim, but it exists. Even an infinite amount of quests doesn't rule out the possibility of 2 people getting the same radiant quest. It's just a pet peeve of mine whenever someone fails at understanding logic, statistics and probabilities.

Re: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has infinite quests
I don't think infinite quests was the end goal, but rather a stop-gap. Infinite quests means infinite loot, and it also gives us something to do between DLCs. It's not actually meant to last forever; just something to allow for leveling between Main Quests, or Testing New Spells, or Gathering Components, or whatever. Waiting for a Dungeon to respawn is never fun. Also, Bethesda has a precedent of creating vast amounts of content. I don't think we need to worry about repetitive auto-generated quests, unless that's all you do in game for long periods of time.

Re: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has infinite quests
I don't really understand how anyone can complain seeming as the 'infinite' quests haven't been used as a substitute for side quests. There will still be the numerous and colorful side quests of the old game, so the fact that the infinite ones could become boring and repetitive is a slightly null point as they are used only as an addition to the gaming experience. That is to say there is no way they could actually make the game worse if you take into account the fact that they send you to dungeons you haven't explored before, with enemies of a challenging level you haven't encountered before and of course the fact that you don't really have to accept them. Those things are of course finite but the claim TH was making wasn't that the game had infinite numbers of amazing in-depth quests, just that there was a system in place that could (if you wanted) give you further/complementary play through structured quests that allowed you to explore areas you may not have previously visited.
